Governor/Lieutenant Governor
The governor serves as the state's chief executive officer, responsible for directing state agencies, signing/vetoing legislation, and overseeing the state budget. The lieutenant governor is second in command, taking over if the governor is incapacitated, acting as governor when they are absent, and often leading special initiatives or presiding over the state senate.
In Maryland, governor and lieutenant governor candidates run for election together on a single ticket in both the primary and the general election. Wes Moore and Aruna Miller currently hold this postion.
The primary will occur on June 23, 2026. The general election will occur on November 3, 2026.
State Attorney General

The state attorney general is the chief legal officer, legal counsel, and top law enforcement official for Maryland. They represent the state in court, advise state agencies, protect consumer rights, enforce environmental laws, and handle major criminal prosecutions. They also issue legal opinions to clarify state laws.
Anthony G. Brown currently holds this position and is the only candidate in this upcoming election.
The primary will occur on June 23, 2026. The general election will occur on November 3, 2026.
State Senate District 9 (West Baltimore)

The state senator is an elected official who serves in the upper house of a state legislature, responsible for representing a specific district by crafting, debating, and voting on state laws, establishing state budgets, and overseeing state agencies. They work with the governor and the lower house (Assembly/House of Delegates) to set policy, raise or lower taxes, and sometimes confirm gubernatorial appointments.
Katie Fry Hester is currently in this position. The candidates for the upcoming primary election are Katie Fry Hester(Democratic) & Ben Hightower(Republican).
The primary will occur on June 23, 2026. The general election will occur on November 3, 2026.
State House of Delegates District 40 (West Baltimore)

A state House of Delegates member (or Assemblymember) is an elected official in the lower house of a state's bicameral legislature, responsible for representing their district's interests. Their core job is to enact state laws, establish state budgets, raise revenues, and oversee state executive agencies, often serving part-time while maintaining other professions.
There are 3 current people serving in this position; Marlon Amphrey, Frank Conaway Jr, and Melissa Wells; while Crystal Jackson is the candidate running in this upcoming election.
